Today another blog was born and two died in the process. I decided to fold the blogs “Hosed at the Pumps” and “Sober Podcast”, two blogs/podcasts I was enthusiastic about for a day or so then the enthusiasm waned as the reality that I didn’t have either the time nor the content for really good blogs hit me.
So why will THIS blog be any different? And WHY now?
OK, so why this blog will be different from the other half dozen or so blogs I’ve started /folded in the last year. This one will be a very “personal” blog and an amalgamation of all that is me. It’ll be about my day to day life (hey I saw that yawn), which includes my family, my dogs, day job and my night job/part time business.
I’ll likely write a lot while at my day job as I spend an inordinate amount of time surfing around gaining new knowledge about my chosen field. Plus it seems that whenever I try to write at night I always have a million distractions to keep me from writing.
This will leave my remaining blogs to concentrate on what they are about.
Vlogger will continue to be about video blogging and User Generated Content, a topic I am extremely enthusiastic about. While newMedia Canada is my way of keeping the old print publication, Visual Convergence alive and my fingert on the pulse of my industry.
I seem to have this vision of being a one man blogging/video podcasting empire.
Maybe that’s why this first entry is also entered in my “Brilliant Ideas” category!
WHY now?
To this I owe a debt of gratitude to Chris Brogan who I met at Podcamp Toronto. Chris recently wrote a post on one of his blogs called “why-do-new-media-types-like-multiples”. It struck a nerve with me, that I was a tad scattered and had all of these half baked projects started but nothing after securing the name on WordPress. So this is my attempt at focussing and bringing all of my various non-career oriented thoughts under one umbrella.
